"It was a complete surprise," said Arnold, 62 "I think it's a wonderful memory."
Arnold said his three daughters attended Simsbury High School, and was proud that he has a new memory card in the history of the school.
The couple had a few minutes late for the ceremony - cracked "cold feet", a spectator - because of traffic caused by a cleaning crew trees. The groom said he took a pot is heated by the snow on the stove for hot water to shave and shower in both buildings Chubb Insurance, which opened its facilities for people without electricity.
Foreigners and a few friends and neighbors filled the rows of chairs in the auditorium of applause and laughter to the ceremony.
"Is not it great?" A spectator was thinking of a friend.
Dal Santo, who recently moved to Simsbury in Champagne, Illinois, and Arnold, who lived in the city for years, have been friends for nearly 35 years.
Arnold's wife, Alice Ann Arnold, who died in May after a 10-year battle with brain cancer.
"We have to care for their loved ones when they were sick," said Arnold. Dal Santo took over her mother through a battle with Alzheimer's disease until his death in April.
"We are against others," he said. "We told our stories of what was to care for a sick person."
The two spent time together this summer and possibly Arnold "is the question. And she said yes," he said. They have planned a trip to Italy next week.
Ellen Mandelberg, a neighbor who came to the wedding, said he was very happy for the couple.
"It's a good guy, has a big family," he said. "We had the worst and not the best. It's nice to be part of it."
Cantor Susan Levine said he came to the house yesterday to warm and Schofield asked her to sing at the wedding. Levine said the community is very close, here comes the storm, and the marriage was a good way to celebrate.
"It's so good that all together with a sense of community and a sense of humor," he said.
The Simsbury High School cafeteria staff made a cake, and Allison Wilcox and Kara Driscoll, members of the Simsbury Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, decorated for the wedding dress .
"You have a gift for people today," said a man on the newlywed couple as they enjoyed their cake.
